The university’ s closure is the ideal time to take a well-deserved break and/or to tackle tasks or projects that have been put on hold.
Please remember to take some time for yourself during this time off. Looking forward to seeing you in the new year!
DFR
Non-Compliance with the Signed Agreement
Last May, we announced that the Association had reached an agreement with the employer regarding deferred exams. This agreement was intended to facilitate the management and payment of DFRs, as well as to ensure consistent application across campus.
Unfortunately, the employer refuses to honour the agreement that was signed and refuses to pay for deferred midterms, as it has always been the case. We were informed that the Faculty of Social Sciences has sent a note to the departments to refuse any payment for work related to deferred midterm exams.
As such, the Association was required to file a group grievance to claim the amounts owed to the affected members.
If you find yourself in the same situation, we invite you to contact us as soon as possible.
In the meantime, and since the employer refuses to recognize the extra work involved in conducting deferred exams, we suggest that you consider other options rather than administering a deferred midterm exam, including carrying the exam grade over to the final exam wherever possible. We recommend that you follow faculty regulations in this regard.
Winter Term 2022
The Association was informed of the measures that have been put in place for the Winter 2022 Term.
In light of the increasing number of reported cases related to COVID-19, the majority of the university’s activities are expected to be entirely virtual for the first three weeks of the session. Despite this, it is possible that some courses where physical attendance is required will continue to be offered in person.
If you have concerns about your health and safety, please contact the APTPUO office for support.
Accommodation Requests
We are aware that some members have encountered complications in their request for accommodation. In the majority of cases, the association was only made aware of the situation when disciplinary measures were initiated.
That is why we strongly advise you to include the association in a copy at info@aptpuo.ca from the beginning of your accommodation requests. This way, you will be able to benefit from our support or our intervention if necessary.
