and above all,
Happy New Year 2022!
Please note…
Requests for Accommodation
That is why we strongly advise you to include the association in a copy at info@aptpuo.ca from the beginning of your accommodation requests. This way, you will be able to benefit from our support or our intervention if necessary.
You can also contact us if you have any questions about the process.
Pension Plan
Deadline: Preferably as soon as possible.
APTPUO members who have worked during the previous calendar year have access to the University’s Pension Plan.
To enrol in the plan, please contact Human Resources directly by calling 613 562-5832 or by emailing hrbenefits@uottawa.ca.
There is no deadline to enrol in the plan. However, the Association strongly encourages members to enrol at the beginning of the session to avoid having to pay all contributions at once later in the semester.

Deadline: January 31st
At the time of hire, members holding appointments during the winter 2021 semester may opt into the medical plan at the time of appointment for a period of twelve months. The deadline to opt into the plan for this semester is January 31.

Publication of the Hiring Report
According to the Collective Agreement, the University will publish the Winter 2022 Hiring Report on or before February 3.
If you applied unsuccessfully for a course, you can review the report and the successful candidates’ name, category, and seniority points. If you believe that the hiring process was not respected, you can contact the Association by replying to this email or by visiting our Contact page.
You have 20 working days following its publication to file a complaint.
Reminders for the Main Unit
Winter 2022 Tuition Fee Credit
Deadline: January 30th, 2022
If you wish to apply for the Winter 2022 Term Tuition Fee Credit Plan, you have until January 30th to do so.
The Tuition Fee Credit Plan reimburses a portion of the tuition fees for students registered at uOttawa who are the child or the spouse of a Part-Time Professor. If the Part-Time Professor is a part-time student at uOttawa, they too may apply for the credit.
All members of the main bargaining unit are eligible for tuition credits. Available funds are distributed to those who have submitted an application. It should be noted that the fund reserved for this purpose is $60,000 per year.

Compensation for DFR Exams
As a reminder, you are entitled to $150 compensation for DFR exams or extra work directly related to the assignment of a final grade to one or more students in a course. You are also entitled to an additional $150 compensation if you are required to prepare and grade a supplemental exam under the conditions stated in the letter of understanding.
If you have any upcoming DFR exams for the Fall term, we would like to remind you of some useful information:
- Your department must arrange for the DFR exams to be administered on the same date;
- DFRs should normally be administered within 60 days of the end of the term and you are given 10 working days to correct them;
- If you decide to administer a new exam, you must adhere to the following guidelines:
- a. Prior approval, in writing, from the appropriate authority in your department;
- b. Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld;
- c. The new exam must be substantially different from that already taken by the group or class;
- d. The new exam must be worth at least twenty-five percent (25%) of the final grade;
Although payments should be automatic, we strongly recommend that you check your pay stubs to ensure that your DFRs are being paid.
For more information, see the Letter of Understanding here.
