Updates on the Main Unit Negotiations
- June 22, 2022: Strike Vote Results – Read the press release here.
For the past three years, we have been teaching in less than ideal working conditions due to the ongoing health crisis. We have been empathetic, compassionate, accommodating and above all resilient in the face of the many challenges thrown at us by COVID-19. It was, therefore, not unreasonable for the Bargaining Committee to expect the employer to come to the table and negotiate a fair and equitable new collective agreement that would reflect the many sacrifices we have made over the past three years and allow us to maintain a decent quality of life in the face of relentless inflationary increases.
Yet, the university has rejected all of our demands in our last three meetings. The employer continues to insist on major concessions and is making a wage offer well below current inflation levels.
For more information on the employer’s proposals and concessions, and for the Association’s position, read the Bargaining Committee’s report here.
